Mind-blowing new hack lets millions of Google users type so much faster

GOOGLE has tweaked its ‘voice typing’ feature to help users type faster.

The new-and-improved feature allows Chrome and Google Docs users to type by speaking into their devices, instead of using their keyboard.

The update is expected to be rolled out within the next six weeks

The feature has been around for several years now.

When it was first introduced, it was a game-changer for people with disabilities.

Google is now widening the features reach beyond Chrome to “most major browsers”.

The Big Tech company, however, stopped short of revealing which browsers the handy feature will be coming to.

Google didn’t stop there.

The voice typing option is also being upgraded to “reduce transcription errors and minimise lost audio during transcription”, the company announced.

The search giant added that voice-typed speaker notes in Google Slides “will now contain automatically generated punctuation” – potentially saving users massive amounts of time.

The update is expected to be rolled out within the next six weeks.

How to type with your voice

Currently, only Google Docs, Google Slides and Chrome users can use this feature.

Firstly, make sure your microphone is turned on and that it works.

Next open up a Google Doc with a Chrome browser.

Click Tools > Voice Typing and hit the microphone icon that appears when you’re ready to speak.

When you’ve finished, click the microphone icon again to stop the transcription.

To use the feature in Google Slides, click Tools > Voice type speaker notes.

How to correct mistakes while voice typing

If you make a mistake while you’re typing with your voice, you can move your cursor to the mistake and fix it without turning off the microphone.

After you correct the mistake, move the cursor back to where you want to continue.
