Grey blending is big news – here is all you need to know about the colour trend
Grey hair is something many women have always strived to cover up.
In an eternal search for youth, we tried and tried to prevent ‘greying,’ and turned to our hair colourists and box dyes for salvation.
However, it seems grey is now in.
Model Julia Fox recently debuted grey hair, saying the look was ‘a love letter to getting older’.
And now, according to experts, grey blending is trending – and is a sign that more and more females are embracing their natural colour.
Instead of glossing over the progression, grey blending allows for a smooth transition to silver hair.
Like all hair colours, grey needs some upkeep, so smart highlighting is needed to keep it looking its best.
But what exactly is this new blending technique and how is it achieved?
‘Grey blending is the process of mixing both highlights and balayage to enhance and perfect your grey hairs,’ Malviika Deshmukh, founder of global hair care brand Razzl Dazzl tells metro.co.uk
‘It’s a positive way to inspire women to embrace their natural self and improve their confidence. Previously, women would fight to hide their greys but now, they can elevate their natural look with the clever use of highlights.
‘The technique involves the process of lightening large regions of hair with the balayage and highlights fewer strands to create that perfect balanced blend.’
Malviika notes that it is perfect for those who want zero fuss when it comes to hair maintenance.
‘This trend requires little to no upkeep due to the moderate colouring and assists you in the seamless and elegant transition to full grey ,’ she adds.
Meanwhile, if you don’t want to overdo the colouring and protect your natural hair, extensions can add the right amount of colour and dimension.
‘A great way of enhancing your evolution to the grey side is by using hair extensions,’ Malviika says.
‘Most hair extensions are colour treatable and are a great way of transitioning to grey completely or if you just want to add more definition alongside existing greys.
‘They also add a depth and thickness to keep your hair and keep it looking fresh.’
