Lewis Hamilton brands Max Verstappen ‘amazing’ after dominance
Lewis Hamilton has described Max Verstappen’s achievements in 2022 as “amazing” after a dominant campaign from the Dutchman. Hamilton said Verstappen had “delivered every weekend” and had done “everything” he needed to.
In a reflective remark, Hamilton claimed he “knew what it feels like” to be in Vertsappen’s position after the Red Bull star secured his second title this season. Speaking to Sky Sports F1, he said: “I can’t say that I’ve had time to study every aspect of what Max has done this year, but I think he’s done an amazing job.
“He’s done everything that he had to do. The team provided him with an amazing car and he’s delivered pretty much every weekend.
“He can be proud of the job that he’s done. I know what it feels to be in a position like that. He’s got a chance to win more races, the next two races, so he could take that record that he’s now taken even further if we can’t stop him, or Ferrari can’t stop him.
“There’s not really much more to say, he’s done a great job.”

The 25-year-old even appeared to take a shot at the seven-time champion, suggesting the Briton lacked respect for his talents. Verstappen explained: “People have told me that he doesn’t use my name.
“I was always taught that you have to respect what people have achieved in sport. I have no problem with what Lewis has achieved. He is one of the best ever. I know it is not only the car he has been driving. That helps. We all know that, but you still have to beat your team-mate and Lewis has done that consistently.
“I think you have to acknowledge the person has done an amazing job as well.”
