Aldi Ninja air fryer dupe sells out as shoppers crash website on launch day

It seems Glastonbury wasn’t the only thing sending the internet into chaos on Sunday morning.

As of 10:30am today, there was a 187,730-strong queue to enter the Aldi website.

Why on earth would there be such demand to get into a supermarket chain’s site, we hear you ask?

Well, it all seems to be down to the fact that a dupe of the Ninja Dual Air Fryer is among the new Aldi Specialbuys dropping today.

Alas, when we finally gained access to the site at 11:30am, the fryer had already sold out online

This fryer is priced at £89.99, which makes it an impressive £140 cheaper than the Ninja version.

Aldi customers were told to ‘set their alarms’ for 8am today to be up in time to catch the big launch.

The Ambiano Dual Basket Air Fryer comes equipped with a touch screen and two four-litre cooking baskets with soft touch handles.

There are seven pre-set programs to cook with, a 60-minute timer and temperature controls, as well as defrost, keep warm, and sync functions.

If you missed the chance to grab one online today, then your next opportunity will come when the air fryer dupes reach stores.

At one minute past 11am, a message on the queue site was added that read: ‘Our Air Fryers are in high demand, and have very limited availability.

‘They will be on sale in-store from the 13th of November’.

People have taken to Twitter to voice their disbelief and frustration at there being such a long queue, with one writing: ’26 is a wild age, half my Twitter feed is people trying for Glasto and the other half are in are queue on the Aldi website for an air fryer’. [sic]

Another tweeted: ‘Been refreshing the Aldi homepage since 7:55am and I’m 73,161 in a queue.’

At one point this morning, before the queue page was up and running, the website crashed, likely due to there being staggeringly high traffic.

One person said: ‘Clicked on Aldi site to nose at the special buys and I’m 84592 in a queue. Come on Twitter to see if the site is down but everyone’s after an air fryer.

‘I don’t even want a effin air fryer! I want to see if they have any dog beds.’ [sic]

Something that’s also unlikely to have helped matters is the launch of Aldi’s teaser Christmas trailer featuring the iconic Kevin the Carrot character.

Every year, Kevin’s popularity sends shoppers into a frenzy trying to buy carrot-themed merch for their kids at Christmastime, and they’re liable to sell out very quickly.
