Fixing search on Twitter, creator monetisation high on priority: Elon Musk

Elon Musk said on Sunday that fixing search and creator monetisation on Twitter was high on his priority list as he makes sweeping changes to the microblogging platform that he acquired recently.

Musk said, ‘search within Twitter reminds me of Infoseek in ‘98! That will also get a lot better pronto.’ and reiterated that fixing search was high on his priority list when asked by a user.

Regarding paying a potion of ad revenues to content creators – like it is done across several platforms – he said Twitter can beat what’s being offered by others.

Responding to a tweet from a social media influencer, who said: “YouTube gives creators 55% of ad revenue, FWIW,” Musk said, ‘we can beat that.’

Further, Twitter has announced that the application will soon allow users to add long-form text to their tweets.

Taking to Twitter, Musk said, “Twitter will soon add ability to attach long-form text to tweets, ending absurdity of notepad screenshots.”

In the Apple App store, Twitter writes, “Get Twitter Blue for $7.99/month if you sign up now Blue checkmark: Power to the people: Your account will get a blue checkmark, just like the celebrities, companies, and politicians you already follow.”

Soon after the news went viral, Esther Crawford, a product manager at a micro-blogging site said that the new blue “isn’t live yet”.
