Prime Minister Liz Truss announced the Government “is taking action now to guarantee our long-term energy security and support people with their energy bills through this winter and the next”.
From October 1, 2022, the Energy Price Guarantee will reduce the unit cost of electricity and gas so that all households in Great Britain will pay, on average, around £2,500 a year on their energy bill, for the next two years.
This will save the average household at least £1,000 a year based on current energy prices from October and is in addition to the £400 energy bills discount for all households.
