Cheeky ref sledge week after Wallabies heartbreak
The controversial call that cruelled the Wallabies of a momentous win over the All Blacks last week hasn’t gone away, although there was a lighter undertone across the ditch a week later.
Just seconds before the first half of the second Bledisloe Cup match drew to a close at Eden Park, Andrew Kellaway confirmed with referee Andrew Brace of Ireland how long he had to kick the ball into touch.
He asked, “How much time have I got? Excuse me, how long have I got?”.

The referee replied, “Five seconds”.
Kellaway reaffirmed, “Five?” before kicking.
The sequence came at the end of the first half in which the Wallabies were taunted by the home crowd after the well-documented penalty at Marvel Stadium that tipped the result.
Bernard Foley was subjected to jeers from the crowd, telling the player at the centre of last week’s saga to hurry up.
The Wallabies went scoreless in the first half, conceding several tries to the dominant All Blacks.
