Poison/Normal Type Pokémon Grafaiai Is The Latest Addition To Scarlet & Violet
Nintendo has released a new trailer to reveal the latest Pokémon joining Scarlet and Violet when it launches this November, the Poison/Normal hybrid known as Grafaiai.
Similar to earlier introduced Pokémon, it seems the direction this time is introducing types and abilities that work hand in hand with consumable items to influence the flow of the battle. According to the demonstration, Grafaiai’s main attack is saliva infused with poisonous sputum and the color of whatever berry it eats before attacking. In a way, this Pokémon will help fans discover more uses for their item pouch, especially berry items, and utilize them in different ways with the help of their Pokémon partner.
This Pokémon was finally revealed earlier today after many teases from the official company account on Twitter. The post revealed some high-quality screenshots of tree stems and branches that are being subjected to some kind of graffiti storm. There are colors of all kinds and shapes and fans have pointed out that this design and name choice actually reflects a natural reserve in Spain with the distinct shape of the colors around the trees. So it seems a lot of research has gone behind the scenes to reflect the culture of the chosen country motif.
Pokémon adapting to poisonous territory doesn’t seem to be a new thing for the new Paldea region. We also have the Paldeaian Wooper who turned from being a Water type into a Poison/Ground type by covering itself with a poisonous film to prevent itself from drying on land. That much reveals that poisonous types will be a great part of the ecosystem of Scarlet and Violet, and each of them will be adapting in different ways to the changes in land terrain and fights for territory as Wooper’s flavor text reveals.
Grafaiai has been added to the official Pokémon roster of the upcoming Scarlet and Violet, taking the number of revealed names now up to 13. Players can also check the recent trailer announcement and the other teaser trailers for a closer look at this Pokémon in its real habitat. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are both slated for release on November 18th exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
