Bukayo Saka has made a big claim about his Arsenal team-mate Eddie Nketiah after the Gunners made it four Premier League wins in a row.

Saturday’s victory over Fulham means Arsenal have won each of their first four games of a Premier League season for only the third time, after 2003-04, when they went on to win the title, and 2004-05 when they finished as runners-up.

Nketiah has played a part in all four of those victories, coming off the bench, thought he is yet to register a goal or assist.

The 23-year-old striker, who progressed though the club’s youth academy, was handed the iconic No.14 shirt this season and Saka is tipping him for big things.

‘Eddie Nketiah made a real difference for us,’ Saka said after Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Fulham.

‘I’m happy with his contribution and I’m sure he’ll score a lot of goals for us this season.’

Nketiah has scored 10 goals in 63 Premier League games for Arsenal since he made his debut in the 2017-18 season.

He will have to improve on that goal-to-game ratio if he is to challenge fellow striker Gabriel Jesus for more minutes this term, with the Brazilian in impressive form since he move to north London in the summer.

Jesus has registered two goals and three assists from his first four Premier League games this season, and also received praise from Saka following Saturday’s win.

‘Credit to Fulham, they made it difficult for us,’ Saka added. ‘In the end we got the result we wanted, so we’re happy.

‘We’re all so hungry to win each game. We’re going to continue like this for the whole season.

‘We know how difficult the Premier League is. We’re just focusing on the next game, the next game and the next game.

‘[Gabriel Jesus has] made a big difference. He brings combination, threat, energy, goals and assists – he brings everything. We’re very happy to have him.’

Quizzed about Gabriel, Saka said: ‘He’s a guy with a big character. He deserved to get the winner.’

Arsenal are back in action when they host Aston Villa on Wednesday, looking to secure five consecutive top-flight wins.
