Manchester City midfielder Jack Grealish has mocked a nonsensical tweet from a football account which claimed he had argued with manager Pep Guardiola during Sunday’s win over West Ham United.

The England international was part of the side won 2-0 at the London Stadium, with new signing Erling Haaland scoring both goals in a victory which suggested City may have improved even further with a traditional striker playing up front.

The champions already have an advantage over Liverpool after the Reds drew with Fulham on Saturday, and they were in total control on their own trip to the capital as they totally dominated play from start-to-finish against David Moyes’ side.

But that didn’t stop the Sport Bible Twitter account from trying to stir trouble. The profile posted a tweet on Monday afternoon with screenshots of match footage where Grealish is talking to Guardiola on the touchline, with the added caption: ‘Jack Grealish spotted telling Pep Guardiola where to go three minutes into Man City’s win against West Ham.’

The screenshots only appeared to show the two men in conversation with one another, though, and Grealish was quick to shut the nonsense down with a short but pointed response.

‘F***in hell, everything you’ve just wrote did not happen [sic],’ Grealish replied from his twitter account. ‘What a s*** irrelevant page! He was giving me tactical advice, ask him yourself if I said anything back to him.’ The tweet from Sport Bible was subsequently deleted.

The former Aston Villa man, who signed for City from Aston Villa for £100m last summer, has delivered curt retorts to accusations of disputes with coaches on social media before.

In January, Grealish responded to the Daily Star’s claim that he had argued with Villa manager Dean Smith by writing: ‘Well that’s a lie. Why would I argue with my manager? he was telling me to calm down. [sic]’

Manchester City’s season continues with a home fixture against Bournemouth on Saturday.
