Stardew Valley 1.5 mobile could hit before the end of 2022

The long-awaited update is ‘making very good progress,’ according to ConcernedApe

While fans have understandably grown impatient waiting for the much-later Stardew Valley 1.5 mobile update, the game’s creator assures us that it is still on the way. In the latest status check, Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone said on Twitter that 1.5 may be ready before the end of 2022 — a far-off ETA, for sure, but something to latch onto at least.

“The 1.5 update for [Stardew Valley] mobile is making very good progress,” he tweeted. “It should be out before the end of the year. Mobile players… thanks for your patience.”

Update 1.5 includes Ginger Island, a new getaway to explore and expand, as well as numerous improvements to the core game. You can have a fish tank, watch ducks swim, move your bed, sit on chairs, raise ostriches, and try a beach farm layout. The list goes on.

Ginger Island
Ginger Islands is one of the best parts of Stardew Valley.

From the sound of it, all Barone can really do is relay and reiterate information as the Stardew Valley porting team continues working on the expansive update. And, in the meantime, he’s busy working on his upcoming life-sim game, Haunted Chocolatier.

Whenever the day comes, there’s going to be a huge sigh of relief. Android and iOS players have been waiting for anything concrete, and with today’s news, we’re getting there.

This is the kind of long-lasting game that players (and the creator) can’t seem to walk away from, and update 1.5, in particular, is a culmination of everything it represents as a wholesome slice-of-life experience. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — Ginger Island is a highlight, and it’s wild that it’s a free update. I loved searching for collectibles.
