Twitter ‘DOWN’ – thousands say app ‘not working’ in shock mystery outage

THOUSANDS of Twitter users have flagged an outage on the platform on Thursday.

The platform will not load feeds, searches, or profiles, leaving users who get their morning news from the bird in the dark.

There were more than 12,000 reports of issues with the platform in the 30 minutes since it was flagged – users reporting problems with Twitter have since topped 50,000.

60% of the outages reported to Downdetector say the Twitter app is failing this morning.

The desktop or browser site was down for 32% of users reporting issues and less than 10% flagged server connection problems.

According to Downdetector’s outage map, Twitter’s problems this morning are concentrated in larger cities rather than rural areas.

The outage is not universal and some users do have access to the platform.

Check your account to see if you’ve been affected.

If the message, “This page is down. I scream… You scream… We all scream… for us to fix this page. We’ll stop making jokes and get things up and running soon,” appears, then Twitter is down for you.

It is unclear at this time when Twitter will be fully operational again.

One commenter on Downdetector’s feed explained what its like for social media users to go through cycles of outages:

“When IG is down, we go to twitter. When twitter is down … wtf do we do ?”

Other commenters took light-hearted jabs at Elon Musk, who recently terminated his bid to buy Twitter and is facing a lawsuit for reneging on his offer.

Twitter’s outage peaked shortly after 8:00AM.

Twitter’s Support Page shared a tweet on the matter for those that could access the platform:

“Some of you are having issues accessing Twitter and we’re working to get it back up and running for everyone. Thanks for sticking with us.”

The issues were fully corrected at around 12:30PM and Twitter Support celebrated the resolution with a tweet:

“And we’re back! We had some trouble with our internal systems that impacted many of you globally. Twitter should be up and running as expected — sorry for the interruption.”
