Charlie Sheen has had a surprising change of heart about his daughter Sami opening an OnlyFans account, just days after fuming about her decision.
The Two and a Half Men actor made it clear he did not support Sami, 18, joining the subscription-based service which is primarily used for adult content. His view was in contrast to ex-wife and Sami’s mother Denise Richards who publicly supported the teen’s business venture.
In his original statement, Charlie, 56, said he would not have allowed Sami to become an OnlyFans member if she was still living under his roof, as the teen has since moved in with Denise.
‘She is 18 years old now and living with her mother. I do not condone this but since I’m unable to prevent it, I urged her to keep it classy, creative and not sacrifice her integrity,’ he stated early last week.
However, just days later it seems Charlie has had some time to think about Sami’s career move and is now willing to support her.
The actor’s publicist Jeff Ballard told Us Weekly: ‘Denise has illuminated a variety of salient points that, in my haste, I overlooked and dismissed.
‘Now more than ever, it’s essential that Sami have a united parental front to rely upon, as she embarks on this new adventure. From this moment forward, she’ll have it abundantly.’
It comes after Denise, 51, said she was proud of her eldest daughter for being able to brush off the negative comments since announcing she was joining the platform.
‘Sami is 18, and this decision wasn’t based on whose house she lives in. All I can do as a parent is guide her and trust her judgement, but she makes her own choices,’ Denise initially said in response to Charlie’s statement.
The Valentine actress later shared an in-depth statement explaining why she has given Sami her blessing.
She wrote in her Instagram stories: ‘Lots of negative comments on my social this past week. I have to say, I wish I had the confidence my 18 yr old daughter has. And I also can’t be judgmental of her choices. I did Wild Things & Playboy, quite frankly her father shouldn’t be either.
‘And to be able to ignore the negativity at her age? It took me many years & I still sometimes struggle. I’m in awe of her ability to be able to shut out the noise. Because it can destroy you.’
She added: ‘Is it so bad to control it & monetise it too? I’m sorry, but s**t, if I can get paid and at my age? To see me in a bikini?!? God bless you. Perhaps I should open my own account..’
Denise then joked: ‘Oh & those of you that are so judgmental… sounds like you might already subscribe to an @onlyfans account. Have a great weekend.’
Charlie and Denise were married from 2002 until 2006 and also share daughter Lola, 17. Denise has another daughter, Eloise, 11, who she adopted after her divorce from Charlie, while the actor is father to three other children.
