Justis Huni’s promoter Dean Lonergan has unloaded on Joe Goodall for his performance in the heavyweight blockbuster between the pair, labelling the showing “disgusting”.
Despite questions surrounding his hitting power and potential rust after a 12-month layoff, Huni showed he was a class above his former sparring partner, securing a convincing unanimous-decision win in the 10-round fight.
Following Huni’s win, which gives him a realistic path towards a world-title fight, Lonergan said Goodall’s camp had lost all hope of a potential rematch.

“My guy, Justis Huni, was fighting for the IBF and the WBC titles. That f—ing idiot, Goodall, was fighting for the WWE title,” he told reporters after the fight.
“Seriously, he came to wrestle, he headbutted, it was a disgusting performance in my opinion from Joe Goodall.
“He had a massive opportunity to come down here and set up an ongoing rivalry with Justis Huni where people would be excited to see them come together.
“Goodall did nothing but make the fight as dirty as he possibly could … and made it as boring as he possibly could.
“If they think they’re ever going to come and have a rematch with Justis Huni, they can go f–k themselves.”
Lonergan named the likes of Kris Terzievski, Lucas Browne and Kiki Leutele as potential future opponents for Huni.
The Kiwi promoter also fired a thinly veiled shot at arguably the world’s biggest promoter, Eddie Hearn, who had tipped Goodall to beat Huni prior to the fight.
Queensland heavyweight Demsey McKean (21-0, 13 KOs) is a part of Hearn’s stable, and while Lonergan said he would welcome a meeting with McKean, he suggested Hearn would not.
“Do not even talk to me about Dempsey McKean. They will run like little bitches because they just will not fight Justis Huni,” he said.
“After that performance, Eddie Hearn will be sitting up there thinking, ‘Why would I stick my big heavyweight in there with him?’. He’s got no chance.
“McKean has done very well to get where he is by fighting guys who can’t fight. They’re rubbish men who come off their route, put their boxing shoes on and then turn around and get knocked out by someone who can’t fight. You can tell he can’t fight by just watching him train.
“To mention Dempsey McKean, even though he’s sitting at No.10 in the world, he’d be easy pickings for Justis. We’d take him in a heartbeat but he’ll run like a little bitch.”
