BOC brought in P68.24B in May, exceeding target
The Bureau of Customs (BOC) raked in P68.24 billion in May, which was P12 billion or 21 percent more than the target collection of P56.48 billion.
The BOC said in a statement that in May, 15 out of the 17 collection districts exceeded their target for the month.
These are the ports of San Fernando, Manila, Manila International Container Port, Batangas, Legaspi, Iloilo, Cebu, Tacloban, Cagayan de Oro, Zamboanga, Davao, Subic, Clark, Aparri and Limay.
The remaining two ports are those of Surigao and Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Collections in May brought this year’s cumulative revenues to P322.47 billion, equivalent to 48 percent of the BOC’s 2022 target collection of P679.23 billion.
Among the factors which contributed to the positive performance of the BOC since January this year include improved valuation, intensified collection efforts, measures preventing revenue leakage and the recovering economy of the country, the agency said in a statement.
