Lions boss gives update on Liverpool and Sheffield United loanees

LIONS boss Gary Rowett has suggested that the club will not be trying to resign two players that have been on loan at the club.

Sheyi Ojo joined Millwall on loan from Liverpool last summer and made 18 appearances in the Championship, assisting two goals.

The 24-year-old struggled with injury during his time at The Den and was not able to hit the heights that were expected of him.

Luke Freeman joined the club on loan on Deadline Day in January from Sheffield United but only managed to play just 13 minutes before being hit by injury.

Freeman’s contract at the Blades is set to expire, and he will be on the free-agent list, however, Rowett has admitted Millwall might not make a move for him.

Rowett told News at Den: “I wish him (Ojo) all the best, I don’t think it’s something that we’ll be able to pursue.

“Luke (Freeman) had a very frustrating time. He’s a top player but obviously he’s not been able to show that.

“But again, probably unlikely we’re going to be able to pursue that, although Luke could be out of contract this summer.

“At the moment, our focus is on players who played last season and had good, positive seasons.

“That’s where we’re looking at this moment in time.”
