Wolves issue Ruben Neves transfer update amid Manchester United links

Wolves head coach Bruno Lage has admitted that the Molineux outfit has not yet received any offers for midfielder Ruben Neves amid reports linking him with a move to Manchester United.

In recent months, the highly talented Portuguese international has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, as United prepare to strengthen their midfield options this summer. However, the Manchester Evening News understands that the Reds are yet to register a firm interest in the former Porto star.

Neves is attracting interest from both Arsenal and Spanish giants Barcelona ahead of the summer, meaning a transfer battle is set to engulf for the 25-year-old. He joined Wolves whilst they were a Championship club in the summer of 2017 and he has gone from strength-to-strength ever since.

Therefore, it is no surprise that he has been heavily linked with a move away from the Midlands club ahead of this forthcoming summer’s window. But despite ongoing speculation, Wolves boss Lage has confirmed that they have not yet received an offer for his services, but has admitted that he is unsure how the club will deal with it when one inevitably lands at their door.

Lage said: “We need to wait for an offer, we have nothing. We need to wait for an offer and understand what [will] really happen – what is good for the club, good for the player.

“For me it is clear, if I want to work with Ruben, yes. If you ask the player if he wants to work for me, for sure he will say yes. But this is football and you never know what can happen in the next day.

“We can prepare the best strategy, for what we want, that is the best players on the pitch. I don’t have any problem with anyone in that position but if I have everyone available I will pick Ruben.

“It is clear because that’s what I did since the first day. He can give us a different dimension. He is a big player and our first choice for that position.”
