Ed Balls was totally rinsed on Tuesday’s Good Morning Britain after a young Ukrainian refugee snubbed his high five and fist bump.

The presenter, who fronted the show alongside Susanna Reid, sat down with a mother and son who had fled their hometown of Odessa, Ukraine, to the UK where they are now being hosted in Windsor.

Mum Nastya told the programme that her heart breaks every time she hears news from her country.

‘Thank God we are okay, but lots of Ukrainians are not,’ she said, adding: ‘We hope that awful war, this terrible mistake, will soon finish and that all the Ukrainians can feel safe and return to their houses.’

Susanna acknowledged Nastya’s little boy and noted that he ‘shouldn’t have to go through this’.

‘Yes, but he understands everything very clearly,’ Nastya responded.

As the interview then wrapped up, Ed attempted to give the young boy a high five, but he was left hanging.

He then switched his method up and went back in, this time for a fist bump.

Sadly though, Ed was rejected again, with Susanna suggesting that the child was more interested in having some breakfast.

The moment didn’t go unnoticed by viewers at home, with one writing: ‘Omg. Ed Balls just got double aired by a Ukrainian refugee kid on GMB. It was a high-five, fist-bump combo and it was brutal.’

‘That kid ignoring Balls high five fist bump has made my day,’ another laughed.

Susanna has been joined by a number of rotating male presenters since Piers Morgan’s dramatic exit from Good Morning Britain last March.

Richard Madeley, Adil Ray, and Richard Bacon have been among the stars to have recently joined the programme.

‘The show is performing well with the roster of guest hosts alongside our existing family of presenters and there are no current plans to change this,’ an ITV spokesperson told us earlier this year.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
