Princess Charlotte can’t contain her excitement after ‘spotting herself on TV’

The memorial service for the late Prince Philip at Westminster Abbey on March 29 saw many members of the royal family come together for the televised event. In a rare occurrence the public saw a number of the younger royals join their parents, including Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Isla and Savannah Phillips and Mia Tindall.

When the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived with their two children, George stayed by his father’s side while Charlotte stayed with her mother as they entered the Abbey and shook hands with those inside. Later on, eagle-eyed fans spotted a hilarious moment once the children had sat down, which shows Princess Charlotte pulling a funny expression.

Many fans on Twitter have joked that the youngster had spotted the camera on her, which is what caused her to pull the look. One Twitter user shared a video clip of the moment and said: “The look when you see yourself on TV.”

Of course we can’t know for sure what caused young Charlotte to pull the concerned expression, or whether she could even tell that the cameras were on her at that moment. However, that didn’t stop fans from commenting on the adorable and funny moment online.

One fan called the moment “just adorable”, while another said that “she is just too cute”. Another fan tweeted a photo of Charlotte’s expression and said: “And Princess Charlotte will never disappoint. The look.” A third similarly said: “Princess Charlotte is so cute glad she’s not overwhelmed by the amount of cameras around and just having fun with it.”

Many fans commented on the young royal’s behaviour and confidence in what was surely a very daunting moment for her. One said: “She was sooooooo well behaved today; what a credit to her parents.” Another fan tweeted: “It’s so humbling to see how dignified the Cambridge’s are as a family.”

The family were together at the event to honour the late Prince Philip’s legacy and work. William and Kate’s youngest child Prince Louis was absent from the event, likely due to his young age. Approximately 1,800 guests attended at the event, including European royals and representatives from the Armed Forces, the Government and Prince Philip’s many charities.

There were concerns that the Queen would not be able to make it to the service as she had been struggling with ill health in recent months. However, she did attend and controversially walked in with the assistance of Prince Andrew.
