EXCLUSIVE: Avengers Forever Teases a Multiversal League of Mjolnirs

Marvel Comics provides CBR with an exclusive preview of Avengers Forever #4, by Jason Aaron and Jim Towe, that teases multiple versions of Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir.

Marvel Comics provided CBR with an exclusive preview of Avengers Forever #4, by Jason Aaron, Jim Towe, Guru-eFX and VC’s Cory Petit. In the preview, Thor’s granddaughters return, while the cover teases a number of different versions of Mjolnir, the God of Thunder’s mythical hammer.

At the start of the Avengers Forever series, Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider and a Deathlok sent by the Avenger Prime ended up on Earth-818, a dystopian world ruled by the Black Skull, a variant of Johann Shmidt/Red Skull. Soon, they teamed up with Tony Stark/Ant-Man and the other Avengers of Earth-818 to stop the Black Skull. Before they succeeded, though, Avengers Forever introduced a team filled with Black Skull variants calling itself the Masters of Evil.

CBR’s exclusive preview of Avengers Forever #4 opens with the Goddesses of Thunder traveling between universes using Mjolnir. They arrive just as the Masters of Evil begin their fight with the Avengers of Earth-818. Immediately after they arrive, the Goddesses of Thunder figure out who their enemy is by seeing the symbiote on Black Skull, noting that it’s related to the Necrosword, Gorr’s weapon.

The cover art of Avengers Forever #4 is also of particular interest. The main cover of the book, which was illustrated by Aaron Kuder, features a ton of different versions of Mjolnir flying alongside the Goddesses of Thunder. At this time, it’s not clear if different versions of Mjolnir will actually make an appearance, but Avengers Forever‘s emphasis on the multiverse makes it a distinct possibility.

Introduced in 2013’s Thor: God of Thunder #8, the Goddesses of Thunder were created by Aaron and Esad Ribić. They are granddaughters of a version of Thor who became king of Asgard and grew older, they played a key role in helping the God of Thunder in his fight against Gorr the God Butcher and a version of Galactus. Eventually, they became part of a team of alternate Avengers.
