WOW facial: The treatment offering an unparalleled level of personalisation
After over a year of on-and-off lockdowns and with no skin-boosting holiday in sight, I turned to a facial to give my skin a much needed boost. The WOW facial promised to cater to my personal skin woes in six steps – so what did each step entail?
Step Two
The first element of personalisation comes in here, in the second part of the treatment.
After discussing my particular skin concerns before the start of the treatment, the therapist decided on an active peel which would best address my needs.
This was applied as I lay back, eyes closed to let it work its magic.
Step Three
Another personalised part of the treatment followed, with the use of the WOW skin needling device.
A unique skincare cocktail was applied to the skin using this little tool. Thanks to its tiny size, I didn’t get the redness experience with a standard micro needling treatment, but I did enjoy the collagen stimulation.
I only found it uncomfortable once – on the skin above the lips – and I opted not to have an application on my lips themselves, as the skin there is much more sensitive.
Step Four
Next up came the Instagram-worthy LED mask treatment.
You may have seen these futuristic masks all over your social media feeds, but they aren’t a gimmick.
The different LED light colours cater to different skin concerns. I had red, to encourage cell renewer and promoted blood circulation for a fresh, glowing look.
Step Five
Next up the WOW mask – which can be purchased for use at home – was applied.
The cooling sheet mask felt refreshing after the LED step, and charged my skin with peptide and hydration stem cells.
Step Six
Finally, an eye cream was applied to the delicate skin around the eyes, and most importantly an SPF50 was applied.
If nothing else, this is an absolute must when putting active ingredients on the skin – although anyone really serious about protecting the skin will wear a high factor SPF everyday, no matter the weather.
Six weeks on, the biggest difference for me has been the reduction in my hyperpigmentation. I also enjoyed a post-facial glow for a couple of weeks after the treatment, which is no mean feat for a poor sleeper who often looks tired.
