Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel erupts at reporter over Roman Abramovich question

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has erupted at press conference questions over owner Roman Abramovich and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Blues are owned by Russian billionaire Abramovich, who is alleged to be an associate of Vladimir Putin.

Abramovich made a rare public statement on Saturday, telling fans that he planned to pass on the ‘stewardship’ of the Premier League club to trustees of the Chelsea charitable foundation.

And the 55-year-old’s involvement with Putin has prompted several questions to be asked of Tuchel in his interviews.

And the 48-year-old has now snapped, telling journalists that he cannot say much more than he has already said.

“It is a bit too much for me to answer,” Tuchel told one journalist at his Tuesday media briefing.

“I am not aware of any details and I’m not aware of the whole situation. There are situations that are much, much more important than football.”

However, the German then lost his patience as further questions were asked about Abramovich.

Cutting off one reporter, Tuchel raged: “No, listen, you have to stop. I’m not a politician. You have to stop.

“Honestly, I can only repeat [what I’ve already said]. I feel bad to repeat it because I have never experienced war.

“Even to talk about it, I feel bad because I am very privileged. I can sit here in peace.

“I do the best I can but you have to stop asking me these questions I have no answers to.”

Tuchel then banged his hands against the table before the press conference was moved on to the final two questions.
