For any fans of The Apprentice wondering when Claude Littner will return, he’s assured viewers that he’s ‘gearing up’ to come back in the near future.

This year on the BBC series, Claude has been notably absent from Lord Alan Sugar’s left hand side in the boardroom, with the first ever winner of the show, Tim Campbell, taking his place instead.

In April last year, the business executive, who has been an aide on The Apprentice since 2015, fell from an electric bike, resulting in him undergoing nine surgeries and having to learn how to walk again.

While watching tonight’s episode of the programme, one viewer questioned when Claude could return, tweeting: ‘I miss @claudelittner on The Apprentice this year! Hope his health is well and hopefully he’ll be back for next year’s series.’

The 72-year-old delivered promising news in response, writing: ‘Thank you. His health is good and he is “gearing up” for the next series….and so am I.’

Some viewers expressed their hope for Claude to make a special appearance on this year’s series at the interview stage, when the candidates are grilled over every detail of their business proposals.

Prior to becoming an aide for Lord Sugar, Claude was one of the most fearsome of interviewers on the show, known for his piercing glare and no-holds-barred approach to tearing the budding entrepreneurs to shreds.

‘We wondered if there was a distinct possibility that we may catch you making a star appearance for the Apprentice interviews this season!?! By jove they deserve a roasting,’ one person tweeted earlier this month.

‘Hi Claude. Missing you on the Apprentice. Will you be back doing the interviews/interrogation of the candidates later on in the series?’ another asked last month.

The interview stage tends to take place around the 11th episode of the series, so with today’s episode being the eighth of the season, there are still a few weeks to go to find out which business heavyweights will be dissecting the business pitches of the participants.

When it was announced that Tim would be replacing Claude on The Apprentice, the season one winner revealed the crucial piece of advice he was given before he began filming.

‘The only advice he said was just be true to yourself because that is the only thing you can really do,’ he said.

‘The beauty of the show is the authenticity to focus on candidates, not on us advisors.’

The Apprentice returns next Thursday at 9pm on BBC One and is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
