Jeremy Clarkson accused of taking vicious jab at Ant McPartlin’s drink driving conviction
Jeremy Clarkson appeared on Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway tonight where the cheeky hosts pranked him into believing they were protestors at his farm, fighting for the rights of soil. When he first greeted Ant and Dec, he made a scorching remark.
When Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly greeted Jeremy via a video call from the Who Wants to be a Millionaire set, Jeremy said: “Oh look, it’s the driver and his mate.”
The Geordie duo simply laughed the comment off and did not respond, though Ant appeared to grimace as he turned back to look at Jeremy while Dec moved on to the next topic.
But viewers immediately took to Twitter, convinced this was a jab at Ant’s 2018 drink driving conviction.
Matthew wrote: “‘Oh look, it’s the driver and his mate.’ Was that a…did Jeremy mean…” he wondered, alongside a photo of the news headline from Ant’s arrest.
He entered rehab for addiction to prescription painkillers and alcohol and took a year off from his presenting duties.
The star returned to the roads 15 months later having shaved some time off his ban by completing a specialist rehabilitation course for drink-drivers.
On tonight’s Saturday Night Takeaway, Ant and Dec pranked grumpy former Top Gear host Jeremy into believing he was being arrested.
However, many of those watching Saturday Night Takeaway were left underwhelmed by the segment.
