The Masked Singer is two celebrities down this evening following a double elimination in which Firework and Doughnuts were unmasked.

The final seven contestants performed on the night but only five of them could get through the the next week.

The first contestant to be revealed was the Firework, with actress Jaime Winstone under the mask.

Rita Ora was the one who was most shocked to find it was a close pal of hers under the mask, revealing they even call her ‘firework’ as a nickname.

References to a period drama were her playing Barbara Windsor in the film about her life and ice skates was her starring in the Torvill and Dean biopic.

The clue about other Hollywood stars she mentioned were actors who had worked with her dad, Ray Winstone.

Jamie said of her time on the show: ‘The feeling I had was completely mixed. I was so nervous and so excited, I had to remind myself that this was fun and I want to enjoy myself.

‘The feeling of belting out a tune and not being judged was extremely exhilarating as an actor. I kept thinking, “Dance like no-one is watching and sing like you do in the shower and try not to remember how the whole nation is watching” – which is daunting.

‘I have a total newfound respect for singers, the energy and breath work along with movement is extremely tiring.’

Doughnuts was the second star to be revealed (Picture: ITV)

Next up was Doughnuts, with the panel guessing it could be Michael Owen, Andy Cole, Gary Lineker or Alan Shearer.

When the mask was finally revealed, the football player under the Doughnuts costume was indeed proved to be Michael Owen.

While the clue about crisps may have confused Davina McCall into believing it was Gary Lineker, Michael revealed he was the face of the ‘Cheese and Owen’ flavour for some time.

Michael revealed: ‘I have to admit I was petrified. A lot of people on the show are professional singers or have had some training but singing as you can tell is probably the least of my strengths.

‘I can’t recall ever having nerves like I had on the first show – my whole body went numb when I went out and saw the crowd for the first time.

‘I knew I was useless and it took an awful lot of courage but it also really helped having the costume on – I’m not sure I could have done it without that.’

Last week saw the Poodle unmasked and viewers were blown away to learn it was Keane lead singer Tom Chaplin under the flamboyant costume.

Earlier in the series, the fourth contestant to be unveiled was Bagpipes who was revealed to be tennis ace Pat Cash.

The third star revealed was Lionfish who was singer Will Young, second was the Snow Leopard who was played by Gloria Hunniford, and the first character to be unveiled was Chandelier, which was singer Heather Small.
