Lesley Manville opens up about run-in with ex-husband Gary Oldman at the Oscars
Phantom Thread actress Lesley Manville, 65, has detailed exactly what happened when she was reunited with ex Gary Oldman when they were both up for Oscars in 2018. Lesley was nominated for Best Supporting Actress whereas Gary took home the Best Actor award for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour.
The couple were married from 1987 and share one son, Alfie, 34.
Just three months after Alfie was born, Gary and Lesley separated.
Their divorce was finalised in 1990, the same year Gary wed Pulp Fiction actress Uma Thurman.
Despite their marriage not working out, the pair have remained on good terms and Lesley spoke highly of her ex in a new interview with You magazine.

She recalled attending the Academy Awards with Alfie and said it was “fantastic” to see Gary take home the coveted prize.
Lesley gushed in the article published in today’s paper: “Gary winning was fantastic and we spent time with him and his wife and Alfie’s two half-brothers.
“Alfie is one of very few people whose parents were both nominated the same year. It’s happened once before with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. It’s a very exclusive club.
“I’ve always been a big champion of Gary’s work and he of mine.”
Oldman praised his sons in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk in 2014.
He said: “I have three lovely boys and I am very proud of them.
“They are nice people. They are not geniuses and they don’t care.
“Let’s make some good people in this world – we have enough smart ones”
Gary was also married to singer Alexandra Edenborough from 2008 to 2015, before finding love with writer Gisele Schmidt, who he wed in 2017.
He has previously revealed he proposed to Gisele whilst dressed as Winston Churchill when filming Darkest Hour.
Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel’s show in 2018, Gary explained: “There was a break in the filming, and we had talked about it and I just felt the urge.
“We were down in the war rooms, and I took her into the back room. And as Winston Churchill, I said ‘Will you marry me?'”
When the host asked whether he had “chance to consummate as Winston Churchill”, Gary joked: “It’s funny you should say that because my wife has often said she went to bed with Winston Churchill but woke up with Gary Oldman.”
