Man City fired warning as Chris Kamara makes Liverpool and Chelsea prediction – EXCLUSIVE

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has been fired a warning by Chris Kamara, who believes that the Premier League title race is far from over. Chelsea and Liverpool are trailing the reigning champions by some distance after a superb festive period for the Sky Blues, and a troublesome one for the chasing duo.

City notched their 11th consecutive league victory last time out against Arsenal, thanks to a dramatic last-gasp Rodri winner.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have failed to win any of their last three league games, while Chelsea have dropped points in three of their last four.

Seemingly out of nowhere, that has opened up a sizable gap between the Sky Blues and the rest, with City’s imperious form suggesting that closing the deficit will be tall order for Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel.

Many have suggested that the title race has effectively been wrapped up already, but speaking to Express Sport, Kamara believes otherwise.

“Not with Chelsea stumbling and Liverpool losing [Sadio] Mane and [Mohamed] Salah to the Africa Cup of Nations. That’s like losing Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden for Man City.”

While City have managed to avoid a rough patch so far this season, they have tasted defeat on two separate occasions.

Liverpool and Chelsea, meanwhile, have both been partial to purple patches in form, which could see the state of affairs transform fairly quickly if Kamara’s prediction about City’s rough patch comes true.

While Premier League glory will undoubtedly be high on Guardiola’s priority list this season, the Citizens must briefly turn their attention towards the FA Cup third round.

On Friday evening, City travel to League Two Swindon Town where the Robins will aim for a giant killing over Guardiola’s Covid-hit squad.

In fact, the boss himself will not be in attendance due to a positive test, along with his assistant Juanma Lillo.

After missing the weekend’s clash with Arsenal, Foden and Oleksandr Zinchenko are likely to sit out the trip to the County Ground.

That should give a chance to youngsters like Cole Palmer and Kayky to impress, with City vying to avoid their first third-round exit since 2011/12.

Chris Kamara is part of the charity campaign, eBay’s Dream Transfer, in partnership with Football Beyond Borders [FBB] which helps disadvantaged youngsters engage with school.

For the chance to sign Roberto Carlos or Eni Aluko for your Sunday league team, enter eBay’s Dream Transfer for just £5 and raise money for Football Beyond Borders.

“You have the opportunity to have Roberto Carlos and Eni Aluko in your Sunday league side. That, in itself, is something else,” added Kamara.

“If I was a youngster now, FBB gives you a second chance.

“Not only can you practice football, you can carry on with your education and try and get grades or skills to help you in later life. I was very fortunate, and FBB is helping those people start a new life.”
