Genshin Impact 2.4 Banner Rerun Characters & News And Event

miHoYo just held on December 26 the sneak peek livestream for Genshin Impact update Version 2.4, Fleeting Colors in Flight, revealing which 5-star characters are getting banner reruns.

We’ve translated below all the main details on Genshin Impact Version 2.4. This is what was revealed on the Japanese Twitter / Chinese livestream and in the official English press release.

Genshin Impact, since Version 2.3, introduced the Character Event Wish-2 system. Where two 5-star characters can get a simultaneous rerun. Officially, these reruns are made to help new players get the past characters they want faster. Character Event Wish-2 banners are linked to the new story content added with that specific update.

Genshin Impact Version 2.4 Release date trailer & New Archon Quest preview

First, here is the release date trailer for Genshin Impact Fleeting Colors in Flight. As usual, we’ve included both the Japanese dub and the English dub below. Just as seen in the trailer, the press release confirms the Jade Chamber is back. The trailer also reveals the Skins for Keqing and Ningguang.

Genshin Impact 2.4 will feature Zhongli, Ganyu and Xiao banner reruns

The leaks were right, the characters getting a rerun are Xiao, Ganyu, and Zhongli:

Shenhe and Yun Jin release date officially confirmed

Shenhe releases on January 5, 2022, with the launch of 2.4. Xiao’s banner will be happening at the same time.

Shenhe and Xiao’s banners will have the same 4-star character boosts. So Yun Jin will be on both banners.

Ganyu and Zhongli together will follow them. Ganyu and Zhnogli’s banners will start on January 26. They will have the same 4-star character drop rate boosts.

miHoYo officially described both Shenhe and Yun Jin as support characters. Nothing prevents you from building them however you wish though. And remember you should only pull if you actually like the characters and can afford them.

Dead by Daylight Event Windtrace is back

Windtrace, the hide and seek event similar to asymmetrical online games like Dead by Daylight, is coming back in Version 2.4. You’ll be able to play matches for points with random players, or exhibition / free matches with friends.

Eight Locales Over Mountains and Seas – Tanuki-related photo event

Travel with a tanuki and take specific photos in this exploration event.

A Study in Potions – Battle Event

This event is a succession of battles in a closed-off arena. Your characters have various buffs depending on which potions you pick at the beginning.

All these events mentioned above will include Primogems as rewards. The JP Genshin Twitter shared gameplay videos of the three events:

Free Liyue 4-star character including Yun Jin

We’ll be able to get one character from Liyue for free: Pick between Xiangling, Beidou, Xingqiu, Ningguang, Chongyun, Xinyan, Yun Jin, or Yanfei.

The World Quests of Watatsumi Island already mentioned several times in-game the existence of Enkanomiya. According to the press release, Enkanomiya is a huge floating island located beneath the ocean, constantly eroded by the Abyss.

Enkanomiya was sealed for thousands of years beneath Inazuma. Ancestors of the people of Watatsumi Island once lived there, leaving the ruins of an ancient civilization that are older than any other relics found on land.

There is no day and night underground, so players will need to find how to use Dainichi Mikoshi. An artificial sun developed by the ancient civilization. You’ll need to solve numerous puzzles as well.

Personally, I think Enkanomiya was partly inspired by Spartakus and the Sun Beneath the Sea. An anime from 1985. (Which was of course inspired by Jules Verne’s Journey to the Center of the Earth). You should check it out.

Enkanomiya is also reminiscent of Ryūgū-jō, the undersea palace appearing in Urashima Taro.

New bosses Bathysmal Vishaps & The Abyss Lector: Fathomless Flames

Bathysmal Vishaps are cunning social predators who can hunt together and take advantage of their surroundings in combat. Version 2.4 also adds a new boss enemy from the Abyss. The Abyss Lector: Fathomless Flames, who can unleash Pyro attacks that deal delayed bursts of damage. Regardless of whether characters are shielded or not. Pretty cynical of miHoYo to add a boss like that when daddy John Lee is getting a rerun.

New Serenitea Pot furniture & UI improvements

Genshin Impact 2.4 will let you customize the shortcut wheel. miHoYo also revamped the crafting menu into a grid display. A new furnishing will let you play music in the Serenitea Pot. You’ll also be able to confirm enemies appearing in the Spiral Abyss while making your teams.

Soft shadows upgrade in 2.4

Soft Shadows technology joins Genshin Impact. Making the game more beautiful if you’ve got a powerful enough PC or a PS5.
