Bachelorette contestant Bec Pressing set tongues wagging yesterday after posting a loved-up photo to her Instagram account alongside another of this season’s contestants, Carissa Croft.
In a post that was interpreted as a relationship reveal by fans and media outlets alike, Bec gushed directly to Carissa that “words cannot express how much you mean to me. To think I’ve only had you in my life for 5 months is insane, because I can’t imagine it without you now. I love you to the moon and back.”
“The side story we love to see!” wrote one fan.
“OMG I’m simply obsessed,” said another.
“Aww this is the cutest! You actually suit each other,” said another – and the story was promptly picked up by multiple media outlets, who reported on a brand-new Bach couple.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but as Bec exclusively told news.com.au today, reports of her “relationship” with Carissa have been greatly exaggerated.
‘I’m so sorry to disappoint you all. At this stage Carissa and I are just very close friends. She’s going off to work on yachts, so my previous post is a gesture of my love and appreciation for her and our friendship,” Bec said.
“Timing doesn’t always work out but you never know what the future holds and I will be forever grateful to have her in my life. I encourage everyone to openly celebrate, love and appreciate those close to them.”
The pair both appeared as contestants vying for current Bachelorette Brooke Blurton’s affections, with Carissa walking out of the Bach mansion the night after Bec was eliminated from the show. They faced much speculation about the nature of their relationship, with Carissa telling TV Week they had grown very close and now “message every day, multiple times a day. I’m super grateful for the friendships that have formed.”
The Bachelorette airs 7:30pm Wednesdays and Thursdays on Ten.
