Daniel James sends message to Man Utd as he looks to reach ‘full potential’

Former Manchester United winger Daniel James feels his old side didn’t see him at his full potential, and has vowed to show it in the coming years

The Wales international made the deadline day move to Leeds United during the summer, having spent two seasons at Old Trafford after earning his move from Swansea City in 2019.

Having been in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans for this season at the start of the campaign, his position quickly changed following Cristiano Ronaldo’s sensational return to United.

James made 74 appearances during his time at Old Trafford, scoring nine goals and adding nine assists, but found his playing time becoming more limited as his time at the club wore on.

And, having found playing time easier to come by at Elland Road, James now believes he’ll be able to kick on, and show his former club what they may have missed out on.

“I’ve not reached my potential yet,” James told FIFA.com.

“I’m getting a lot more game time now and I’ve obviously got my own goals. I’ve got so much more I can improve on, so much more to give.

“Hopefully I’ll show that in the coming years.”

Since moving to Leeds, James has been a regular in Marcelo Bielsa’s side, with the Argentine a big admirer of the 24-year-old, having previously tried to sign him in January 2019 before United managed to snap him up the following summer.

James is yet to make a big impact on his new side, with his only goal contribution so far coming via an assist in Leeds’ 2-1 win over Norwich City last month, although he clearly isn’t lacking in the belief that he can improve on his tally.
