Jude Bellingham to Manchester United: What we know so far

In an alternative universe, Jude Bellingham’s trip to Manchester United’s Carrington training complex in 2020 bore fruit and the youngster signed on the dotted line to join the club.

In reality, of course, the then-Birmingham City midfielder opted to join Borussia Dortmund in a decision no one could argue was a bad one.

Still just only 18, Bellingham has excelled in both the German Bundesliga and the Champions League, and hasn’t looked out of place for the England senior side.

Though he is believed to be happy with Dortmund, speculation over a future big-money move to the Premier League remains.

Here’s everything you need to know about the latest developments surrounding Bellingham’s United transfer.

He’s staying in Germany

That was the message recently from Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl.

Bellingham’s continued development in black and yellow has seen England’s top sides keep a close eye on him and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been tipped to reignite his interest next summer.

However, Kehl has played down reports Dortmund could sell and has issued a hands-off warning to any team weighing up a bid.

“There’s a lot of interest around Jude Bellingham, not only Liverpool,” he told SPORT1. “But there is no bottom line and no exit clause. He is loved here, he enjoys that. There are no signs he could leave Borussia Dortmund soon.”

He’s destined for the Premier League

If you listen to another Birmingham academy graduate in Demari Gray, Bellingham will return to England and ply his trade in the Premier League.

While the football education Bellingham is currently undergoing in Germany is going as well as the youngster – or anyone – would have hoped, a return home feels inevitable.

It was a bold decision to snub United’s offer and make the jump to Germany at such a young but Gray believes his future lies in England.

“For sure, I’m pretty sure he’ll be back in England,” he told Football Daily’s Unfiltered.
