Meghan and Kate rocked metallic dresses but they were wildly different

The metallic trend is truly an iconic one and both Princess Kate and Meghan Markle have had stunning takes on it, Meghan in 2015 and Kate in 2017.

Back in 2015, in her pre-royal days, Meghan wowed at the CDFA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards.

She wore a silver mini dress which hugged her tiny waist and showed off her fabulous legs.

Free from any royal style guidelines, the actress rocked a fashionably plunging neckline.

Meghan paired the dress with a boxy metallic clutch bag.

She wowed in chic black pointed-toe sandals with a clear strap.

The Suits star opted for dark nails which is not standard for royals, although both Meghan and Kate have worked dark manicures in their royal days.

Her long brunette tresses were worn in loose waves, cascading over her shoulders.

In 2017, Princess Kate – then a Duchess – also experimented with the metallic trend, but in a very different way.

Kate stepped out at the UK-India Year of Culture in an off-white shimmery dress.

The royal’s dress did show off her incredible figure but in a more subtle way, with a mid-length skirt, long sleeves and a round neck.

Kate went for a monochromatic look with pointed-toe heels in exactly the same off-white, shimmery shade.

Like Meghan, Kate wore her brunette hair down in loose curls, but some were pinned behind her head to showcase some pretty pearl and diamond earrings.

The only other piece of jewellery she wore appeared to be her iconic Ceylon sapphire engagement ring, which adds an enchanting pop of colour to any outfit.

Both Meghan and Kate had beautiful makeup looks, sporting dark, dramatic eyes and more subtle pink lips.
