Stormzy throws star-studded ‘Mike Gala’ to celebrate his 30th birthday
The rapper celebrated hitting the big 3-0 with a plethora of celebrity pals, from Alison Hammond and Danny Dyer, to Jonathan Ross and Alesha Dixon.
Aptly named ‘Mike Gala’, the extravaganza took place inside the ballroom of the Biltmore Mayfair.
Guests were treated to a three-course dinner before the party kicked off at the Merky Casino.
There were roulette tables galore and Monopoly-style notes emblazoned with Stormzy’s actual face.
Well, you only turn 30 once, right?
Stormzy – real name Michael Ebenezer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr. – looked very dapper for his big night, dressed in a Lanvin suit with rose-gold Tiffany & Co. accessories.
His star guests also dug out their glad rags.
Keeping with the Western vibe, the former Big Brother housemate added a pair of black fringed boots and, honestly, we’re obsessed with the whole look.
The much-loved TV star was accompanied by her son Aiden, 18, who looked smart in a black suit paired with trendy trainers.
Meanwhile, Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha, 44, wowed in a strapless black gown.
Adding a pop of colour with red nails and a vibrant lip, the musician oozed glamour.
EastEnders actor Danny, 46, was his usual comical self all night, with Stormzy filming the soap star enjoying a boogie and posting it to his Instagram Story.
Accompanied by his wife Joanne Mas, also 46, Danny opted for a fashionable linen suit, also showing off his moustache.
Other stars in attendance included Louis Theroux.
The documentary maker, 53, burst into laughter as he posed for cameras ahead of mingling with his fellow stars.
We also had Liverpudlian actor Stephen Graham, 49, who attended with his wife, TV personality and rapper Big Zuu, 27, and Loose Women’s Judi Love, 43.
Ahead of turning 30, Stormzy spoke to The Guardian about throwing a literal gala for his big day.
‘Maybe it’s because I don’t get out the house much, but birthdays for me are a big thing,’ he said.
Asked if he would be also holding a smaller, separate party, he laughed at the suggestion.
‘Nah, not smaller, just not as classy. The gala will look nice and the other one will be a f***ing p**s-up.’
He’s also set to fly out to Ibiza with close friends to continue the celebrations.
On if he was looking forward to his birthday, he said sweetly: ‘In a beautiful way – because I mean, I thank God I’ve done a lot of growing these past four or five years.
‘I’ve done the serious bit, so now it’s just enjoy.’
