Kerr makes huge call for must-win World Cup clash
Matildas captain Sam Kerr has confirmed she is available for her side’s must-win FIFA Women’s World Cup clash against Canada on Monday night.
Kerr was ruled out of the Matildas’ first two pool matches shortly before their opener against Ireland with a calf injury.
“The plan has (remained) the same – miss the first two games and then reassess,” she told media on Saturday.

“I was out on the pitch today, and I’m as good as I can be.
“I would love to tell you everything, it’s going to go down to the wire. I’m definitely going to be available, but how we decide to use that is not to be given to the opposition is the main thing.
“I’m going to be there (and) I’m going to be ready.”
Kerr said she had never had an injury like this one in her career.
“Touch wood this is the last – but normally when I’ve been injured it’s been a big one where I’ve been out for months on end so it’s an easy pill to swallow, but I think with these ones it’s a bit more annoying,” she said.
“It was disappointing, but I had to suck it up. I’m part of a team, I’m not part of an individual sport, it’s not about me, and that’s what I’ve done over the past however many days it’s been.
“I’ve been lucky enough to have always been on the pitch over the past few years … and had teammates not on the pitch supporting me, so that’s been my role the last 10 days.
“To be honest it’s an honour to be here. I feel lucky and privileged to be here.
“The most important thing is I’m a good teammate who supports their team.”
After winning their opener against Ireland 1-0, the Matildas suffered a shock 3-2 loss in their second game against Nigeria on Thursday night.
The Matildas will take on the Canadians at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium on Monday night, at the same time Nigeria take on Ireland at Brisbane Stadium.
