A PASSENGER has publicly shamed her boyfriend after he refused to pay less than a tenner to sit next to her on a flight.
The couple were due to fly out together from Vienna, but ended up being separated by their airline’s seating allocation.

Instead of opting to pay the paltry fee to sit next to his partner, the boyfriend was more than happy to hold onto his cash and sit among strangers.
The man’s girlfriend, Gamze (@esengamze), filmed him getting onto the plane on his own, zooming in on his face as he waited to board.
She shared the video to Tiktok, saying: “All the couples are sitting together but your man didn’t think it was worth paying an extra €10 (£8.50) to choose a seat next to you.”
Close to five million people have seen the video since it was shared, but a lot of people were actually on the boyfriend’s side.
Several argued that it was simply an unnecessary fee to have to pay, while others have said they didn’t need to spend a flight next to their partner.
One wrote: “Just out of principle I don’t pay extra for a seat, the flight is expensive enough.”
Another said: “We spend the whole time together, sometimes it is even good to not be sitting next to each other.”
A third added: “I’m gonna have my headphones in the whole flight anyway, why pay more to sit next to someone in silence?”
However, there were some women who felt the Gamze’s pain, with one saying: “I would break up.”
Another simply added: “Would be dead to me.”
Some holidaymakers swear by methods to avoid having to pay to sit next to their partners.
Travel expert Lucas Chesterton explained that passengers should board the plane last and then they can pick any spot they like.
In a video on Tiktok, he said: “When I walk on the flight, I will look for two or three seats by themself and I’ll take those seats and get a row to myself.”
Choosing different airlines could also increase your chances of sitting next to your partner, without having to pay.
Research put together by consumer experts Which? revealed the airlines that are more likely to sit you away from your friends and family, where paying for certain seats is more necessary.
It turns out that the airlines who are most likely to divide passengers are Wizz and Ryanair.
As many as 90 per cent of Jet2 passengers ended up sitting together without having to pay extra for their seats, while that number rose to 93 per cent for easyJet.
Better still were British Airways, who put 94 per cent of their passengers together, even if they hadn’t paid any extra.
Meanwhile, travel experts revealed several methods they have used to get themselves a free row.
And a man was told he was “creepy” for his method for keeping the seats next to him empty.
