Vanessa Feltz ‘damaged and wounded’ by Ben Ofoedu cheating scandal
Vanessa Feltz has opened up on being left ‘damaged and wounded’ after her split from Ben Ofoedu.
The 61-year-old TV presenter split from her partner of 17 years in February, after it emerged he had cheated on her multiple times.
The This Morning star has been open about her heartbreak and the huge change it’s been for her, as she and the 50-year-old Phats & Small singer were engaged.
Ahead of returning to the dating scene on Celebs Go Dating, alongside the likes of Love Island star Chloe Burrows, Vanessa has shared the impact the split had on her.
She said: ‘As everyone knows, I had a very bad and broken heart and it was horrible.
‘People think I’ve been amazingly brave, but really on the inside, I just feel as awful as anybody else would.’
The mum-of-two went on: ‘I’ve been so hurt, crushed and dismayed and worried about the future.’
Talking about finding her ‘dream man’ on the reality dating series, Vanessa added to The Mirror: ‘I’ve been so hurt, crushed and dismayed and worried about the future.
‘I will continue to believe that there are good people out there who mean what they say and say what they mean. I hope I’m not naïve and stupid by being optimistic.’
She added that she doesn’t ‘like being single’, but putting herself out there has been ‘daunting’.
She said: ‘I’m putting myself on the path of rejection, when I already feel very damaged and wounded.’
This comes after Vanessa shared her nerves on her way to the first date, posting a clip to social media.
‘Oh em ge,’ she began, relatable as ever.
‘Going off on my first date for Celebs Go Dating. I haven’t been on a date for 17 years so just imagine how I’m feeling.
‘I can’t even find the words to describe it and I’m good at words, so I don’t know.
‘But that is where I’m going this morning and I’m wishing you all a lovely, lovely Friday.’
Celebs Go Dating returns to E4 soon.
