Piers Morgan hits out at Meghan and Harry with sarcastic congratulations
It appears that whenever there’s any excuse for Piers Morgan to send an insult in Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s direction, he takes full advantage of it.
Once again, the TalkTV presenter has referenced the Sussexes on social media by offering them sarcastic congratulations for their latest achievement.
In December last year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex released their highly-anticipated and divisive documentary series on Netflix – Harry & Meghan – in which they opened up about their relationship and lives as members of the royal family.
A description of the docu-series read: ‘This is a first-hand account of Harry & Meghan’s story, told with never before seen personal archive. All interviews were completed by August 2022.’
‘Members of the Royal Family declined to comment on the content within this series,’ it continued, although Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace previously denied that they received this approach for right of reply.
This week, it was announced that the Netflix programme had been nominated in the category of best streaming nonfiction series at the 2023 Hollywood Critics Association TV Awards.
The shows that they’ll be competing against include Prehistoric Planet 2, Rainn Wilson and the Geography of Bliss, Rennervations, The 1619 Project and The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy.
The news of the nomination was tweeted by the Hollywood Critics Awards… prompting a reply from Piers.
The broadcaster quote-tweeted the announcement, adding in his own post: ‘Many congratulations to Meghan & Harry on being nominated for an award for trashing their families on TV. Truly heart-warming! ????.’
Earlier this year, Piers admitted that he wanted to have the chance to interview Meghan and Harry.
‘I’d be quite good in training Meghan and Harry to be proper people again,’ he told Spencer Matthews on his Big Fish podcast.
‘If you could swing it I’d love to do an interview with both of them actually. No holds barred, live interview, me one-on-one with Meghan and Harry.
‘It would break all records for television viewing in history and I’d have a few supplementary questions that would go a little further than the current questions.’
Harry & Meghan is available to watch on Netflix.
