Google Docs makes it easier for users to create a document – Times of India
9to5Google has reported that with the new update, users will now see the edit mode directly when they open the Google Docs app. For those who don’t remember, Google Docs users earlier had to tap on the FAB button with the pencil icon at the bottom right corner to start typing. Now, the document will be ready for typing as soon as users create a new document.
Also, if there’s a keyboard attached to the device, the I-beam cursor will be ready for input and tapping on the screen brings up the virtual keyboard. Google has also mentioned that the Docs will now show the formatting toolbar more compared to before.
Google Sheets and Slides also getting some changes
According to the report, Google Sheets on Android is getting larger tap targets and now tapping once opens the formula bar, tab bar and contextual formatting toolbar.
As far as Slides changes are concerned, the app on Android is also getting some new additions. This includes ability to immediately show a filmstrip preview at the left. Tapping on the object will now show the contextual toolbar along with an on-screen keyboard.
How these changes will make things easier for users
Before these changes, users had to use multiple taps to access these settings and features. For instance, the Docs changes make things faster for users. Similarly, Sheets changes make it easier to tap on things, and cells and also access formula bar quickly. The same case applies to Slides as well.
