Baldur’s Gate 3 Shows its Customizable Serial Killer Origin Character, Romance, and More
Baldur’s Gate 3 launches in a little under a month on PC (after its release date was actually moved up) and as such, Larian Studios has dropped their final launch “Panel from Hell” livestream. The show provides a look at the game’s final Origin character, the dastardly Dark Urge, the game’s last major antagonist, Orin the Red, character creation, romance, and more. If you’ve got a couple hours to spare, you can check out the whole Panel from Hell, below.
The final Origin character, Dark Urge, is a unique one. Not just because they’re a straight-up serial killer, but because you can actually customize them (other Origin characters have a preset appearance).
“Stepping into the role of the Dark Urge, you’ll begin Baldur’s Gate 3 with your memory lost after an unfortunate encounter between a parasitic tadpole and your brain. Now all that’s left is a strange insatiable urge – an urge that makes itself known in your subconscious, through your deepest thoughts and in your dialogue options.
Followers of Blood in Baldur’s Gate will already be familiar with the Dark Urge’s simple but effective modus operandi: to murder brutally and indiscriminately. Driven to commit some of the most lurid acts of violence that you’ll encounter in the game, to play as the Dark Urge means to either indulge your most depraved impulses or attempt to resist them.”
As mentioned, we also got a look at Baldur Gate 3’s final big bad, Orin the Red (played by Lady Dimitrescu herself, Maggie Robertson). She’s a shape-shifting killer looking to “paint the city of Baldur’s Gate in blood.” Lots of murdering going on in this update!
Another look at Baldur’s Gate 3 character creation was provided, with players being able to toy with every freckle, wrinkle, and piercing. It was also confirmed that multiclass hybrid characters will be possible, for those who don’t want to restrict themselves. Oh, and if you’ve already played BG3 Act I to death in Early Access, the full game adds 33 percent more lines of dialogue to it.
And finally, we already knew this from the Early Access release, but yes, Baldur’s Gate 3 won’t be shying away from the sexy stuff. It seems like you’ll be able to fraternize with you companions regardless of sex, fantasy race, or magical shenanigans. You hear that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf developers? Larian’s throwing down the gauntlet. Check you the Baldur’s Gate 3 release trailer, largely focused on the mushy stuff, below.
Baldur’s Gate 3 launches on PC on August 3 and PS5 on September 6. An Xbox Series X/S version is in the works, but it’s currently without a release date.
