Stefanos Tsitsipas was loudly booed and jeered by the Centre Court crowd at Wimbledon on Friday during his second-round clash against Andy Murray.

The Greek fifth-seed kicked off at umpire Aurelie Tourte soon after the match restarted – with the first part of their battle taking place on Thursday before it was paused due to the Wimbledon curfew.

Tsitsipas was left angry when he was too late to challenge a call as a shot from Murray landed out during game two of the fourth set.

‘If the ball is out, it’s going to be a really bad call from you,’ Tsitsipas told umpire Tourte as replays showed the shot landed out. ‘It’s going to be out, 100 per cent.’

Tennis legend John McEnroe, on commentary duties for the BBC, said: ‘He can’t challenge this.

‘He’s trying to challenge the call after he missed his backhand. Not going to work there. It’ll get the fans into it.’

Tsitsipas used to have beef with Murray but played down their fall-out ahead of their battle in SW19.
