BTS pics from the first version of The Idol reveal a shockingly different show

The Idol, created by Sam Levinson of Euphoria fame and Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye has been garnering a range of negative reactions. Turns out, the original concept for the show was quite different from what eventually came to pass. The intense show features Lily-Rose Depp as Jocelyn, a pop star suffering from a mental breakdown at the peak of her career. Tesfaye’s residence served as the location for most of the series.

For the uninitiated, the show was previously directed by Amy Seimetz through a female gaze was satire on the music industry. After the show’s finale, a user took to their Twitter handle and shared behind-the-scenes pictures from the first version of the show. And it shows the early stages of Jocelyn’s career.

Set in the music industry in Los Angeles, The Idol revolves around the life and career of Jocelyn, a pop star. Sam Levinson, who wrote the popular drama Euphoria, wrote and directed the show.

It stars The Weeknd, Lily-Rose Depp, Troye Sivan, and Jennie from the K-pop group BLACKPINK, among others.
