8 songs in recent times that are remakes of hit viral songs

Bollywood places a lot of emphasis on using regional and international cinema as “inspiration.” The music industry enjoys remixing popular songs from the past with Punjabi music and, lately, rap verses to produce brand-new sounds. Due to the constant earworms produced by music labels via social media, radio, and even Reel challenges, a lot of these naturally wind up being bangers. One of the most recent examples is the remake of Pasoori Nu from SatyaPrem Ki Katha which was released today. Pasoori, a well-known Pakistani song originally performed by Ali Sethi and Shae Gill, was reworked and is now sung by Arijit Singh and Tulsi Kumar.

As Pasoori Nu makes waves in the music circuit, we take a look at a few similar examples from recent times:

Following the huge popularity of Sri Lankan artist Yohani’s song Manike Mage Hithe, the song was reworked as Manike with Jubin Nautiyal and Yohani for the song Thank God with Siddharth Malhotra and Nora Fatehi.

The song Rangi Sari, a reworked version of the same-named song by vocalist Kavita Seth, was featured on the Jugg Jugg Jeeyo soundtrack. The popular song had a new interpretation for the movie. Kavita Seth’s voice was retained for the new version as well. The Holi song showcases Kiara Advani and Varun Dhawan’s sizzling chemistry as the lead couple.

Nasha, a song by the Amar Jalal Group that debuted at the top of the charts in 2019, was reworked as Jehda Nasha for the Ayushmann Khurrana-starring action movie An Action Hero.

Abrar Ul Haq, a Pakistani artist, sang the song Nach Punjaban in 2001, and it is still regarded as one of his most well-known. The remade version of Nach Punjaban, which has more than 78 million views on YouTube, was used in the movie JugJugg Jeeyo.

In the 1980s hit Qurbani, the original Laila Main Laila star Zeenat Aman rocked the role and became a national icon. Sunny Leone also made headlines in 2017 when she joined Shahrukh Khan in dancing to the remake song from the movie Raees. The previous song’s lyrics were only slightly altered, but the new one’s upbeat music surprised the crowd.

Sushmita Sen, a former Miss Universe, blew viewers away with her amazing dancing to the Dilbar song. This song had been remade for the Satyameva Jayate movie, starring John Abraham. With her clean dance moves and subtle Arabic twists, Nora Fatehi did not let the audience down in the new Dilbar.

Aankh Marey was originally a part of Arshad Warsi’s debut movie Tere Mere Sapne. It sees him opposite Simran in the music video. Aankh Marey was remade in a Bollywood romantic-action film Simmba featuring Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles. The energetic track witnessed stellar performances from the stars.

The new version of Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga was a beautiful romantic number that won hearts. Darshan Raval and Rochak Kohli provided the voices for this lovely classic title track. R. D. Burman provided the music for the original song, which was sung by Kumar Sanu. It was taken from the film 1942: A Love Story, which starred Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Manisha Koirala in key roles.
