735 Kendriya Vidyalayas selected for PM SHRI Scheme – Times of India

Prayagraj: At a time when the Ministry of Education has shortlisted 9,000 schools from around the country eligible for its flagship Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI), 735 Kendriya Vidyalaya across the country have been selected for PM Shree scheme.
This include four Kendriya Vidyalaya from Prayagraj too which have made the district proud by featuring in the list of total A total of 81 KV’s, spread under three regional offices of the state (Agra, Lucknow and Varanasi) which have been selected for the scheme. In all, 17 Kendriya Vidyalaya under the jurisdiction of Regional Office (RO), Varanasi have been selected for the coveted scheme of the central government.
The KV’s of the Sangam city include KV AFS, Manauri, KV New Cantt, KV Bamrauli and KV COD Chheoki. Other KV’s of the Varanasi region, that have been selected for PM SHRI include KV DLW Varanasi, KV kandheri, KV Ballia, KV Chopan, KV at Siddharthnagar, KV number 1 Air force Gorakhpur, KV Gangarani, KV Chero (Salempur) KV Rail Parisar Gonda, KV Sultanpur, KV 39 GTC Varanasi Cantt, KV Basti and KV Manas Nagar (Mugalsarai).
In terms of different Regional Offices of KV’s across the country which have been selected for PM SHRI includes 32 from Agra, 14 from Ahmedabad, 32 from Bangalore, 13 from Jammu, 35 from Gurgaon, 35 from Delhi, 10 from Silchar, 14 from Tinsukia, 32 from Ernakulam, 37 from Bhubaneswar, 23 from Dehradun, 19 from Guwahati, 44 from Hyderabad, and 29 from Jabalpur.
Besides the other Regions, from where the KV’s have in selected include 57 from Jaipur, 39 from Chandigarh, 44 from Kolkata, 32 from Lucknow, 17 from Raipur, 45 from Mumbai, 26 from Patna, 19 from Ranchi, 42 from Bhopal, 28 from Chennai, and 17 from Varanasi region.
“We feel proud that 17 of the KV’s of RO Varanasi have been selected for the coveted scheme of the Ministry of Education and presently we are working on the proposal which has to be sent to the ministry regarding what all facilities does the selected KV already has and what additional facilities are required as per the norms laid down under PM SHRI”, said Deputy Commissioner, RO Varanasi, AK Mishra while talking to TOI.
These shortlisted schools will now be developed into model schools where students will be trained to take part in hackathons, and to excel in studies and other co-curricular activities. Equipped with smart classrooms and improved infrastructure, PM SHRI schools will showcase the National Education Policy (NEP) in its entirety.
The PM SHRI schools scheme was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 5, 2022. Under this scheme, the government aims to develop more than 14,500 schools across India. Through this scheme, already existing schools would be selected and strengthened and upgraded. Based on the objectives of the scheme, PM SHRI Schools will also aim towards delivering quality teaching to enhance cognitive development of the students. Through PM SHRI Schools, the government also aims to create nurturing, holistic and well-rounded individuals equipped with key 21st century skills.
Institutions that made the shortlist were selected from over 2.5 lakh government schools, including Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas, which were found eligible to apply for the tag. Over the next few years, the central government plans to take the tally of PM-SHRI schools to 14,500 across the country.
