68 meritorious students leave for fortnight long summer internship programme at AIT Bangkok – Times of India
PRAYAGRAJ: Prayagraj: In the maiden educational trip in any foreign country after the Pandemic, 68 meritorious students of United Group of Institutions (UGI) left Sangam city for Bangkok, on Thursday.
These 68 meritorious students are part of a 15-day Summer Internship Program at the prestigious Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok, Thailand.
The group moved for Kolkata by train from where they will be further boarding the flight for Bangkok. The group will return to India on September 17, 2022, inform cultural head, UGI, Naini Ajay Sharma. These students include 44 from UGI, Naini, and 12 each from United University (UU), Rawatpur, Prayagraj and UGI, Greater Noida.
Sharma said that of the total 700 UGI students had applied for the trip to AIT out of which 68 students were selected. He further informed that three senior faculty members will also be travelling with the students as part of the faculty exchange program. They include head, technical training department, UIT, Dhananjay Sharma, Nishant Dabhade from UU, Prayagraj and Meenu Sahni from UGI, Greater Noida.
Sharma added that this is the 12th summer internship trip of students to the coveted AIT. And with this number of students, the total number of students visiting AIT till now has scaled up to around 850. The trip is being organised by UGI as part of its collaboration with AIT to provide a platform to exchange various academic programs.
He said that in addition to the collaboration with AIT, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has also been signed with other foreign universities for academic excellence.
They include MoU of United University (UU) with Burriram Rajabhat University (BRU), Thailand and Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Indonesia as well as MoU between UGI and Missouri University, Columbia, USA.
He said that this will be the first summer internship trip of students to AIT after the Covid-19 phase.
A flag-off ceremony was also held at the UGI, Naini in this regard to brief students about the AIT campus and the important guidelines. Besides students, parents and guardians of the students were also present in the function.
