It was an absolute scorcher this weekend in the capital, with temperatures hotter than the likes of Ibiza and Marbella.
After a weekend of basking in the sun, we can’t wait to spend the summer boogieing in a field to our favourite tunes.
But with the cost of living crisis still in full swing, many of us will be looking for a more economical way to have fun this summer.
Here’s our list of all of the free festivals you can go to in London over the coming months.
West End Live
Fan of musicals but can’t afford the hefty cost of theatre tickets?
Don’t fear! West End Live is a completely free event, showcasing the incredible talent of London’s theatre performers, who will belt out show tunes across two afternoons in June.
Pride Month 2023
Pride Month is here, with members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies celebrating their identities, accomplishments, and reflecting on the struggle for equality throughout June.
This year, Metro.co.uk is exploring the theme of family, and what it means to the LGBTQ+ community.

There will be performances from the cast of the likes of Mamma Mia and Hamilton – with appearances from the cast of Frozen the Musical for the little ones as well.
West End Live is not a ticketed event and entry is on a first come first served basis.

Dates: Saturday June, 17 and Sunday, June 18
Pride in London
Pride in London is the UK’s biggest celebration of the LGBTQ+ community.
There will be an enormous parade across central London and various stages dotted around the city – with the largest being in Trafalgar Square – where singers such as Adam Lambert and Idina Menzel will take to the stage.
Pride in London is a free event and does not require a ticket.

The Cally Festival
The Cally Festival is a yearly street festival, showcasing everything the local community has to offer.
Expect street food, live performances, craft stalls, workshops and more.
The whole event is completely free and does not require a ticket.
Location: Caledonian Road
Date: Sunday, July 2
Croydon Mela
Croydon Mela showcases the area’s diverse Asian culture, with music and dance performances, food and craft stalls and more.
The event is completely free, but you need to grab a free ticket to attend, which you can do so here.
Location: Wandle Park
Date: Sunday, July 16
Notting Hill Carnival
The streets of Notting Hill come alive every August bank holiday weekend, as Europe’s biggest street festival celebrates Caribbean culture with a three day carnival.
There’s a parade, street food, costumed performers and over 30 static sound systems, blasting out beats from samba to hip hop.
The event is completely free and is not ticketed, just head on down and soak up the atmosphere.

Date: Saturday, August 26 – Monday, August 28
Totally Thames Festival
Totally Thames Festival takes place over the whole month of September and aims to ‘bring the Thames to life’.
The line up for this year hasn’t been announced yet, but last year included: The Mayor’s Thames Festival, the Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Festival and the Great River Race.
Although the event itself is free to attend, some of the activities will cost you money.
