MANILA, Philippines — The Mrs. Universe Philippines Foundation has crowned nine titleholders, six of whom will take part in the Mrs. Universe pageant in South Korea in December.

The winners were chosen from a field of 19 married women who participated in the national pageant’s coronation night staged at the grand ballroom of Okada Manila in Parañaque City on Oct. 2, and ended early morning on Oct. 3.

The main title of Mrs. Universe Philippines went to Veronica Yu from Quezon City, while the Mrs. Universe Philippines FDN-North Pacific Asia crown went to Gines Angeles from Nueva Ecija, and the Mrs. Universe Philippines FDN-Northeast Asia title to Lady Chatterly Sumbeling from Pangasinan.

Jeannie Jarina from Valenzuela City was hailed as Mrs. Universe Philippines FDN-West Pacific Asia, Jessa Macaraig from Bulacan was proclaimed as Mrs. Universe Philippines FDN-Pacific Continental, and Michelle Solinap from Iloilo was crowned Mrs. Philippines Universe FDN-Continental Asia.

All six of them will compete in the 2022 Mrs. Universe Ltd. pageant in South Korea in December with more than 100 delegates from different parts of the world.

The global tilt is mounted by a Bulgaria-based organization established in 2007. This should not be confused with another contest with a similar name, the Mrs. Universe (Official) pageant, organized by an Australia-based entity that will hold its inaugural edition also in December.

Several other winners were proclaimed at the national pageant’s culmination — Mrs. Universe Philippines FDN-Luzon Anita Gutierrez from Pampanga, Mrs. Universe Philippines FDN-Visayas Betchay De Dios from Cotabato City, and Mrs. Universe Philippines FDN-Mindanao Virginia Evangelista from Cagayan Valley.

Margie Aquino from Pagadian City was first runner-up, Mar Vargas from Laguna was second runner-up, and Malou Rustia from Mandaluyong City was third runner up.

Singer-entrepreneur Maria Charo Calalo, Mrs. Universe Philippines national director, and herself the Mrs. Universe Philippines titleholder for 2019/2020, mounted the national pageant.

It was also announced during the program that the Philippines will host the 2023 Mrs. Universe pageant, where more than 100 participants from different parts of the world are expected to take part. EDV
