5G capable of supporting businesses’ digital growth, says Globe

Globe Telecom Inc. says its 5G offering was able to support video conferencing, remote assistance and other digital trends that would improve client’s business operations.

Citing the results of a recent test that it administered, the Ayala-led telco said in a statement its 5G Standalone technology could also enable cloud gaming, virtual reality laboratory and video surveillance and analytics. 5G allows users to have faster download and upload speeds, resulting in better connectivity.

“Experiencing 5G will be the new wave of communication as it maximizes the power of digital solutions and enables applications straight from the palm of your hands,” said Gerhard Tan, director and head of network strategy and technology enablement at Globe.

For video conferencing, the telco giant said its 5G enabled live video calls with “ultra-high definition resolution.”

Remote assistance, meanwhile, “lets businesses collaborate and provide guidance in real-time across different locations using augmented reality technology” or that which refers to the incorporation of digital images in the real environment as viewed from devices.

Cloud gaming refers to hosting a live-streamed game on the digital platform. A virtual reality laboratory enables users to have an “immersive experience” in virtual worlds.

“Meanwhile, video surveillance analytics leverages existing video surveillance infrastructure to provide enhanced security, automate access control and collect data on customer behavior,” Globe said.

The company earlier said it had deployed 5G in 70 cities and towns across the country by the end of 2022, more than the 29 it had in 2021. INQ
