40k students registered so far for paramedical courses – Times of India
The registration process for the first round of admissions in undergraduate paramedical courses including nursing, physiotherapy, bachelor of optometry, naturopathy and audiology is over and 40,878 students have registered themselves for around 30,000 seats available in the state.
Sources said that 39,248 students of the total who have registered have also completed their document verification. Sources said that there are many students who want to get into undergraduate medical and dental courses but as the admissions have not started for it they may have registered themselves for paramedical courses as an option. Sources said that undergraduate medical and dental admissions will begin after the announcement of Undergraduate National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) results which is scheduled on September 7, Wednesday. The National Testing Agency (NTA) had conducted NEET UG on July 17.
Around 75,000 students from Gujarat including 10,900 from Ahmedabad had taken NEET UG exams. Around 18 lakh students had taken the NEET UG conducted in June.
Sources said that students who have passed Class 12 science exams are waiting since May for medical admissions to begin. GSHSEB had announced Class 12 results in May.
According to sources, the number of seats for nursing and physiotherapy courses is likely to increase as the government has not yet completed the process of sanctioning new nursing colleges in the state.
