How many players a team can have in the squad?

A minimum of 18 players and a maximum of 25 with a maximum of 8 overseas players.

How many players are in the auction?

The original longlist had 991 players but it was pruned to 405, out of which, 273 are Indian. The remaining 132 are overseas players, including 4 from Associate nations.
Which overseas players can see a lot of interest in the auction?

There is plenty of buzz around Sam Curran. He won the Player of the Tournament award at the 2022 T20 World Cup. Fellow England allrounder Ben Stokes and Australia’s Cameron Green might also be in good demand.

Any domestic Indian players to keep an eye out for?

Tamil Nadu’s N Jagadeesan, who scored a record five consecutive hundreds in the 50-over Vijay Hazare Trophy, could find a lot of takers, especially the franchises looking for an Indian wicketkeeper-batter. Punjab allrounder Sanvir Singh’s ability to hit big sixes and bowl mediumpace could also attract interest. Himachal Pradesh’s Vaibhav Arora, Vidarbha’s Yash Thakur and Jammu and Kashimir’s Sharukh Dar and Mujtaba Yousuf are some of the pacers to look out for.

Any prominent players who aren’t part of this auction?

Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard have retired from the IPL to become coaches at CSK and Mumbai Indians respectively. The Australian trio of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Steven Smith have decided to skip the auction. England all-rounder Chris Woakes has pulled out of the IPL to have shot at the Ashes via county cricket, while Sam Billings withdrew from his deal with KKR.

How to watch the auction?

It’ll be live on Star Sports channels. It can also be streamed on Jio Cinema app
