19,000 to answer Goa board’s XII exam from March 15 | Goa News – Times of India

PANAJI: Altogether, 19,819 students have registered to answer the Class XII exam of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. The exam for students of all streams — arts, commerce, science and vocational — is scheduled to be held from March 15 at 20 centres across the state.
As per the special evaluation scheme introduced by the Goa Board during the Covid-19 pandemic and in force for 2022-23, this is the second term exam for Class XII students of the board.
Goa Board has written to schools seeking their assistance with their premises for the conduct of the exam. Stating that some centres like Mapusa, Harmal, Margao, Nuvem, Navelim, Cujira, Ponda and Curchorem may need some high schools to be requisitioned as sub-centres for a few days, the Goa Board has asked schools to make arrangements when the exam conductor concerned approaches the institute.
“As you are aware, the HSSC exam 2023 (second term examination) will commence from March 15, 2023 (Wednesday). Exams will be held in the morning session — 9.30am onwards. There are 20 centres across the state and around 19,819 candidates will answer the exam,” the Goa Board stated in its circular to the schools.
In keeping with the special evaluation scheme that was conceptualised and implemented during the Covid-19 pandemic — when the offline mode of education took a hit due to a slew of restrictions imposed to contain the virus — the syllabus for students of Class X and XII has been divided into two equal parts for both the first term and the second term.
The Goa Board conducts term-end examinations for both the classes instead of conducting a single public exam at the end of the academic year. The results of these two exams, along with internal marks, are combined to arrive at the final result for Class X and XII students.
